Bath Sub-Aqua Club is affiliated to the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC). The club currently has around 50 members of mixed ages and qualifications. The club meets every Wednesday evening at a local school pool and afterwards at 9pm in the Forester & Flower pub, Combe Down, Bath.
Diving is arranged for most weekends (weather permitting) off the Dorset and Devon Coast. Weekend trips and longer holidays are also arranged in Britain and abroad.
Full diver training is avaliable from total beginner to Advanced Diver level and for those who hold qualifications from other diving associations (PADI, NAUI, SAA) who wish to cross over to BSAC. Refresher courses can also be organised.
"Come and Try It" sessions can be arranged by appointment for individuals or groups of up to 4 at a time. To learn to dive or to attend a "Come and Try It" session you must be medically fit and over 16 years of age.
We have also put together this 'Welcome Pack' that gives more information about the club and our activities.
Routine club dives mainly take place from south coast locations such as: Plymouth, Weymouth, Lyme Regis, Kimmeridge and Penzance. If you have joined us as a qualified diver, or have completed your training, you are then free to attend any organised club dive (space permitting).
For trainees, training dives will be organised at a local venue known by club members as 'the pond' or a sheltered seaside location such as Plymouth, Weymouth or Kimmeridge. The pond is a local reservoir and when full it is has a max. depth of 13m. It is a good sheltered water location with a gently sloping base; much of the reservoir is at 6m or less. Unfortunately there is little to see but if you are lucky you may spot a trout!
The club carries out a wide range of diving from wreck dives through to night dives. Many divers dive for the pleasure of experiencing the underwater realm, but there are many other hobbies to pursue. For example:
- Underwater photography
- Underwater archaeology
- Wreck exploration
- Marine ecology and conservation
